Analysis of oilseed rape transgenic plants containing the BnSHP1 construct

Major part of required vegetable oil for our country is imported abroad. Canola is one of oilseed plants which its planting and production has been increased in the recent years to more than 200,000 ha. One of the important problems in canola cultivation is seed shattering. Production of plants resistant to seed shattering id one of the breeding aims. S there is not a good resistance source in Brassica napus, application of genetic engineering for resistant line production can be useful. In this way silencing of the BnSHP gene using RNAi silencing technique was considered. For this purpose a 470 bp segment of the BnSHP1 was transferred into rapeseed cultivars (Opera, Zarfam and Sarigol) by Agrobacterium transformation method. The putative transgenic plants were grown and maintained in phytotron and glasshouse. Molecular analysis using specific primers of the genes BnSHP and resistant to PPT confirmed the transformation and present of the BnSHP in plants. In total 61 transgenic plants of different cultivars have been produced which more study on them will be performed in the next generations.
