In order to Study the inheritance of resistance to Fusarium Head Blight (FHB) in local wheat accessions of National Plant Gene-Bank of Iran, seven morphotypes including four resistant, one moderately resistant and two susceptible ones were inter-crossed in a 7×7 one-way diallel cross design. Seedlings of F1 and parents were grown in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with two replications at Gharakhil research station of Mazandaran in autumn of 2002. Traits such as days to heading, plant height, spike density, 1000-grain weight, as well as response to the disease were evaluated during the growing season. Diallel analysis was performed by two methods of Griffing, and Jinks and Hayman. General combining ability was significant for all the measured traits except for 1000 grain weight. Specific combining ability was significant for all the measured traits. Results of analysis of variance for Wr+Vr and Wr-Vr, regression analysis of Wr and Vr, and estimates of genetic parameters indicated the importance of additive, dominance and epistatic gene effects for disease severity of spike, that of dominance effects for disease severity of grains, plant height, days to heading and 1000-grain weight and that of over-dominance effects for spike density. Broad-sense heritability was high for all the traits, however, narrow-sense heritability was high only for 1000-grain weight which indicates the efficiency of selection based on this trait.
