Study on competition between Rye (Secale cerale) and Wheat(Triticum aestivum) and combination effect on bread quality

In order to study of competition effects and bread quality an experiment was conducted in 9 treatments include: Treatment1:450 plant per m2 of wheat + 10 plant per m2of rye Treatment2:450 plant per m2of wheat + 20 plant per m2of rye Treatment3:450 plant per m2of wheat + 40 plant per m2of rye Treatment4:450 plant per m2of wheat + 80 plant per m2of rye Treatment5:450 plant per m2of wheat (Check treatment) Treatment6:460 plant per m2of wheat Treatment7:470 plant per m2of wheat Treatment8:490 plant per m2of wheat Treatment9:530 plant per m2of wheat in a RCBD with 4 replications at 3 region( Karaj , Mashhad and Esfahan) and for two years( 1999 and 2000).The results showed that with increasing rye from 20 two 40 plant per m2 the biological yield was reduced significantly. The most effect of increasing rye plant density was conducted on wheat grain yield. With increasing rye plant density from 10 to 20 plant per m2 wheat grain yield was reduced significantly. Among wheat grain yield component, number of wheat grain( fertile spikelet),number of spike per plant(fertile spike) and weight of 1000 seed wheat grain were affected by increasing in rye density and reduced respectively. Rye was more competitiveness than wheat and it could reduce biological yield, grain yield and grain yield component more than wheat in equal density. The 10 plant per m2of rye in 450 plant per m2 of wheat is a critical level that not affected on grain yield and bread quality and must respect the falling of rye seeds from spikes in the end of growth season for enrichment of seed bank more than critical level.
