Tolerance evaluation of sugar beet varieties to rhizomania disease

Rhizomania is one of the most devastating disease among all sugar beet diseases. Infections with this disease can lead to severe losses in root yield (RY) and sugar content (SC). In this research, effect of rhizomania disease was investigated on some quantitative and qualitative characteristics of many commercial cultivars. In experiment number one, none of the cultivars under study resulted in reasonable yield and ELISA test reveal the presence of the virus in all of them. In experiment number two only Pauletta cultivar produced more RY and WSY, and it was better than other cultivars. ELISA test did not reveal the presence of the virus in mentioned cultivar. In this experiment some cultivars such as Brigitta and Liela produced high yield. In this experiments because of severe rhizomania infestion, many cultivars were infected severly and yield of resistant cultivars were put down.
