In order to evaluate superior alfalfa ecotypes for cold regions this Research was done for 6 years during 2002-07. The experiment conducted in Graze agricultural research station in two stages. In first stage during 2002-2004 the petals of superior ecotypes were transferred to isolated fields for seed production for two years. During the Second Stage from 2003 to 2007 a number of 17 selected superior ecotypes were evaluated using randomized complete block design with 3 replications for 4 years. Yield and some other related characteristics were measured at proper times. Simple and combined statistical analyses were done on recorded trials. Results revealed that there were significant relration between fresh and dry matter yield and another characteristics of genotypes such as plant hight, growth rate and number of days from planting to flowering (P0.05-0.01). Also comparisons of 3years average forage yield of genotypes showed that some ecotypes such as Hamdani and Azerbaijan respectively showed good potential than others. Finally ghahavnd of Hamden genotype with 67.92 T/ha fresh matter yield and 19.75 T/ha dry matter was found to be adaptabled in Kurdestan region.
