Animals observed in TUAT university forests between 1960-2005

The frequency of wild animals observed at the TUAT university forests from 1960 to 2005 was classified into five categories (A-no observations, B-once every several years, C-once per year, D-once per month, E-once per week). Populations of wild animals at the university forests in 2005 were considered from the category fluctuations. Six mammal species (Sus scrofa, Cervus nippon, Capricornis crispus, Ursus thibetanus, Macaca fuscata and Microtus montebelli) increased, 4 ones (Lepus brachyurus, Sciuridae spp., Petaurista leucogenys and Meles meles) did not fluctuate and 4 species (Mustela sibirica, Martes melampus, Vulpes vulpes japonica and Nyctereutes procyonoides) decreased. Three bird species (Nycticorax nycticorax, Phasianus versicolor and Bambusicola thoracica thoracica) decreased and 5 species (Graphophasianus soemmerringii scintillans, Coturnix coturnix japonica, Anatidae spp., Streptopelia orientalis and Scolopacidae spp.) did not fluctuate. Four snake species (Agkistrodon acutus, Natrix tigrina, Elaphe quadrivirgata and Elaphe climacophora) and 1 frog species (Bufo formosus) did not fluctuated.
