This study was conducted to determine the disinfection efficacy of low-1evels of dissolved ozone on Legionella pneumophila. Eight strains were used: one standard strain, five strains from the environment, and two clinical strains. The results of laboratory batch-type experiments showed that the dissolved ozone concentration of 0.034 mg/l completely killed L. pneumophila after one minute of exposure and the dissolved ozone concentration of 0.005 mg/l achieved a 99% sterilization rate after one minute of exposure. Experiments to estimate on the CT values and the disinfection efficacy of ozone indicated that the CT values of ozone to kill 99.99% of eight strains of L. pneumophila were 0.007-0.013 mg x min/l (Average +- standard deviation: 0.011 +- 0.002 mg x min/l).
