This paper explores the process of how women from non-agricultural sectors started up organic -farming in Ogawa-machi, Saitama Prefecture, and their views on life. Organic farming women didn't choose organic farming as an occupation, but chose to undertake 'organic farming as a way of life'. The organic farming women had a stronger consciousness about food self-sufficiency than city women and stronger even than women in general farming. In fact, their rate of self-sufficiency for vegetables was higher when compared to other women. This gives a critical view of eating habits, not only in city life but also in present rural life. Research of rural life society can learn many things from organic farming women.
