Oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.) belongs to ancient crop. In European countries, for example, in England, it was known already in the XVI century, and in the XIX century has been imported in Russia when in beginnings is used as the bee plant. In Latvian language for the first time on oilseed rape are written in 1836. Oilseed rape in wild not found. It is originated as the natural amphidiploids from wild cabbage (Brassica oleracea L.).
