Triticale and hull-less barley (HB) breeding program was started at State Priekuļi Plant Breeding Institute in 1994 and 2000 respectively with the purpose produce varieties adapted to local conditions with valuable grain quality features for feed and healthy food uses and to introduce hull-less gene in Latvian barley breeding material. This study summarizes data obtained from yield trials of the first 8 triticale and 22 advanced HB breeding lines in 2005-2007. The average yield of triticale lines during three years was 5.56 t ha 1 and between evaluated triticale lines they are genotypes with higher yield, better winter hardiness, higher protein, starch content, as well as lysine, methionine and threonine content in protein then for check 'Dinaro' and 'Sw Falmoro'. Registration of triticale varieties is considered in the nearest years. The average yield of HB lines during three years was 3.71 t ha1; it ranged from 69 to 92% if compared to covered check 'Ansis'. The yield of 3 lines did not significantly differ from covered check (p=0.05). Average crude protein content of HB lines (13.3%) surpassed covered check by 1.1%. Content of essential amino acids (lysine, methionine and threonine) surpassed that of covered check in all HB breeding lines. Average starch content (63.8%) exceeded covered check by 2.4% and average volume weight (801 g l1) was by 16% higher than that of covered check. Registration of HB varieties is considered in the nearest years.
