Revision of the lichen genus Lobaria (Schreb.) Hoffm. in the Philippines, 2. subgenus lobaria section Lobaria

The present paper is the second in a three-part revision work on the genus Lobaria (Schreb.) Hoffm. in the Philippines dealing with subgenus Lobaria section Lobaria. This work is based on intensive field and herbarium studies of morphological anatomical and chemical characters as well as ecological and geographical date. Four new species are described and placed under Lobaria (Schreb.) Hoffm. subgenus Lobaria section Lobaria, namely: Lobaria oreophila Gruezo, L. ramicola Gruezo, L. banahawensis Gruezo and L. dogmae Gruezo. Five changes in taxonomic rank and status are also made: Lobaria subnuda (Vain.apud Raes) Gruezo comb. et stat. nov., L. stenophyllodes (Vain) Gruezo comb. et stat. nov., L.subsinuosa (Vain) Gruezo comb. et stat. nov., and L. insularis Vain. subsp. subdiscolor (Yoshim) Gruezo comb. et stat. nov. In the Philippines, a total of 16 species and two subspecies now comprised Lobaria subgenus Lobaria section Lobaria. The other species in addition to those mentioned above, are Lobaria isidiophora Yoshim., L. meridionalis Vain, L. clemensiae Vain., L. subscrobiculata Vain., L.mansonii Yoshim., L. discolor(Bory in Del.) Hue, L.ferax Vain., L. insularis Vain., and L. robinsonii Vain.
