In the Philippines, the demand for strawberry fruits is high particularly during holiday seasons where the fruits command a very high price in the market.Although the demand is high, commercial production is confined in highlands of Luzon particularly in the Cordillera Region wherein the climatic condition favors the production of the crop. In the highlands of Mindanao, large areas are potential for production, however limited farmers engage in strawberry production due to lack of planting materials and appropriate technology for production management. A research was conducted at Claveria Experiment station, in Lanise, Claveria, Misamis Oriental to determine the effects of varying levels of nitrogen on the production of strawberry transplants. The results of the study showed that on the variety Sweet Charlie, under Claveria condition, at high level nitrogen (500-200-200) the strawberry mother plants produce the most number of strawberry transplants (runners) with an average of 74 pieces/runners as compared to 12 pieces produced by the treatment with 3 tons chicken manure alone. Strawberry transplant production were observed to occur during the months of May to October with the bulk of productions during the month of July to September, generally three months after planting the mother plants. In fruit production management study under rain shelter production, strawberry performs better fruiting compared to open field production in terms of marketable yield,non-marketable yield, percentage damage fruits and disease incidence.
