The Community-Based Participatory Action Research (CPAR) was conducted in corn growing areas in barangays [villages] Dolorosa, Dangcagan and Kinura, Kalilangan, both in the Province of Bukidnon. The project aimed to improved the income and living conditions of corn farmers by promoting community-based technologies for sustainable agricultural development through participatory approach. Component technologies in corn production such as the use of high yielding varieties, integrated nutrient management, integrated pest management and livestock integration were introduced and showcased in these communities. To ensure sustainability of the project, a counterparting and roll over scheme was instituted among stakeholders (DA, LGU and community partners). Results revealed that using a combination of inorganic and organic fertilizer has increased crop yield by 13 percent compared to inorganic fertilizer alone. In Dolorosa, the use of C818 with Trichogramma evanescens obtained an increase in yield of 46 percent over farmers' practice (FP). Likewise, in Kinura, the use of GSI 40 with T. evanescens obtained an increase in yield of 59 percent over FP. An increase in net income of 64 percent and 274 percent was realized in Dolorosa and Kinura, respectively. Moreover, the project demonstrates increase in farmers' receptiveness in adapting introduced technologies during and after the project intervention, which is vital in achieving a collective sustainable agricultural development. Since the project employed a roll over scheme, community project policies and strategies should be strengthened to encourage and motivate farmers to increase their repayment rates.
