The effect of demographic and socio-economic features on preferences of apple consumers

This research was conducted to determine and evaluate the relations between apple consumer preferences and their demographic and socio-economic characteristics. The incidence of correlations and their strength and characteristics were analysed. The research was conducted based on the results of questionnaire surveys conducted among residents of Lublin, Poland, in 2006. It has been proved that characteristics such as sex, age, education, income, source of income, type of family have a statistically essential influence on the frequency of apple consumption, purchase places, size of a single purchase, preferences concerning the size of fruit, the colour of peel, the hardness of pulp and the taste
