Material used in the present study was collected from fish caught in ponds of Laki Jaktorowskie SGGW and in the Dluga River near Halinow (Poland). 371 fishes were examined, 212 of these were from Laki Jaktorowskie and 159 from the Dluga River. From all examined fishes, fish louse Argulus foliaceus was found only on the carp Cyprinus carpio on the crucian carp Carrasius carassius, on the prussian carp Carassius auratus gibelin and on the ide Leuciscus idus that made 14 percent of infection. The highest infection was found on carp (67.5 percent). There were more carp louses in the breeding conditions of ponds then in the natural conditions of the Dluga River. Higher prevalence and intensity of infections was registered in autumn. The presesnce of the carp louse did not depend on the sex of fishes both in ponds in Jaktorowo and in the Dluga River but the age of fishes affected the presence of this parasite
