The possibility of using two multi criteria optimization methods for selection of optimal technical system is presented. The first method applied is ICOR (Iterative Compromise Ranking), and the second one is VRAC (Volumetric Ratio of Alternatives Characteristics). The paper presents comparative analysis of tractor ploughing system ranking, based on available data on technical characteristics of tractor engines, and exploiting characteristics of operating machine - tractors systems for ploughing. The applied methods, based on the relevant data, provides the prospective user of tractors and other technical systems with a selection of optimal variant.
