In the paper the authors try to discuss rural development problems and define rural areas e.g. regions in the Authonomous Province of Vojvodina (Serbia) based upon the existing methodologies like OECD and EU. The authors try to define the intensity of the rural regions in the AP Vojvodina by ranking them. Next step was to identifie the set the rural development indicators which could be implemented in AP Vojvodina and based on that a composed indicator of rural development. They have suggested the proper methodology and implemented it by ranking the Municipality of AP Vojvodina according to that.
