Over the two-year research (2007-2008) in a commercial-experimental sour cherry planting near Cacak (Serbia), some major properties of Serbian cultivars i.e. Sumadinka and Oblacinska Visnja, and some Hungarian cultivars i.e Debreceni Botermo, Kantorjanosi 3 and Ujfehertoi Furtos were being studied. Major productivity and technological properties were contrasted as affected by different tree age and planting density. The results of the study inferred that cv Oblacinska Visnja, a typical representative of cultivars with small fruits, performs better than cv Sumadinka (characterized by larger fruits) in respect of soluble solids content and productivity per unit of arable land. As regards fruit properties, the investigated Hungarian cultivars, derived from natural population, are more similar to Oblacinska Visnja than to cv Sumadinka.
