Only the use of quality variety seeds will ensure that high and stable yield are obtained. The selection of NS varieties of small grains has been made for the 2008/2009 season, and these varieties will mark next year production campaign. The seed production of basic winter wheat seed has been established on 2,479 ha, while the 1st generation certified seed of the same crop has been sown on 23,874 ha. In winter barley, basic seed has been planted on 210 ha, while the 1st generation of certified seed has been sown on 1,870 ha. In triticale, basic seed is grown on 52 ha and the 1st generation of certified seed on 737 ha. It is estimated that about 130,000 tons of harvested seed will be produced, which, along with the existing seed reserves, will be enough for the establishment of production the following year.
