Factors of the beet web worm Pyrausta sticticalis L. population dynamics

Observations over population dynamics of the beet webworm were carried out during the period of its low density in 2003-2007 in the southern European Russia. It was found that the depression period was characterized by low female fertility (up to 200 eggs per female), low larval hatchability (average 64%) and insignificant survival rate under lab conditions with a mean of 7.5%. In some generations adults failed to be produced at all. It was demonstrated that the prevalence rate of microsporidian infection correlated negatively with the abundance of webworm adults that fluctuated through generations. Suitability of the factors available for proper forecast during low pest population has been discussed particularly in the case of lack of data on the webworm preimmatures. So, the factors to contribute population dynamics are 1) rate of microsporidian infection; 2) hydrothermic coefficient hydrothermic coefficient during the summer of a precede generation and some its charactristics (precipitation amount, female fertility, imago number)
