[Soil chemistry and spring wheat crop yield in forest steppes in the Middle Volga Region]

A model of zonal soil fertility (MSF) is developed to increase spring barley yield up to the regional potential according precipitation (the Middle Volga Region). The MSF structure has dynamic (P205 and K2) content, pH, density, arable layer depth), stable (humus content, cation exchange capacity, hydrolytic acidity and others) and fundamental (soil grading, mineralogical) properties, which are realized practically in the named order. It is found out that soil factor in the barley yields has a percentage of 54% and the one of growing technology is 46%. It is necessary to make soil conditions optimal to reach the potential meaning of 4000-5000 kg per ha. The 1 step to do is to increase the level of mobile phosphorus average content to 150-200 mg/kg of soil. This factor is limiting for the region. In the same time it is necessary to optimize changeable potassium content up to 170-250 mg/kg of soil. The 2 step to realize MSF is to regulate the stable properties. The main practices are connected with manure and cereal straw applying, growing of perennial grasses and using of green manure crops. The estimation criterion of the recommended techniques is a positive balance of macro- and microelements in each field.
