Discussions about safe food over the last few years have become a very frequent subject of specialists and consumers. We often ask ourselves if traceability alone is enough to bring to perfection the safe food criteria and a credible reason for the respect of consumers towards such a system. To provide an assurance of efficient meat traceability from the viewpoint of safe food it is very important to monitor the individual animal health status, the health status of the whole farm and to supervise the usage of remedies with regard to their withdrawal period. This article presents a detailed description of software application on handheld for data entry. Other possible usages of these data are discussed, too. The solution for the establishment of an alert system to render shorter the response time in case of disrespecting the withdrawal period, support to the farm management and support to the agricultural specialists, veterinarians and advisors are also discussed.
