In years 1995 to 1997 an experiment in random block design was performed at the Agricultural College in Rakican in order to establish correlation between growth, morphological development and contents of nutritive matters in orchard grass (Dactylis glomerata L.) cv. Kopa. The grass was cut in 14 day, 28 day, 42 day and 56 day periods and in the following phases: tillering, stem elongation (the following cuttings were performed every 28 days), heading (the following cuttings were performed every 42 days) and flowering (the following cuttings were performed every 56 days). With the development the contents of nutritive matters in the plant changed. The contents of CP, EE and ash decreased, as well as digestibility, NEL, SU and ME, while the contents of NFE, starch, saccharose, ADF, NDF, ADL, cellulose and hemicelluloses increased.
