Histology and lectin histochemistry in the skin of the crocodile (Crocodylus siamensis). Samples were taken from individual cultivation crocodile and congregate cultivation crocodile and were processed in paraffin technique, sections were stained by H and E,PAS and lectin histochemical method, respectively. Some sections was stained by horseradish peroxidase (HRP) conjugated lectin which binds to specific terminal sugar residues of glycoconjugates. Histology of crocodile skin showed epidermis and dermis. Epidermis was divided into 4 layers: stratum corneum stratum granulosum stratum spinosum and stratum germanitivum Dermis composed of collagen fibers, smooth muscle fibers, blood vessels and nerves. Lectin histochemistry showed all types of sugar in keratinized layer. N-acetylglucosamine, termina L-Galactose were stained intensely in basal and suprabasal layer of epithelium, but terminal L-fucose was stained moderately. All types of sugar were also stained in collagen bundle primarily in upper layer of dermis.
