To study the effects of gypsum(G) , chicken manure (CM), and chemical fertilizers (F), on root yield and starch content of Rayong 72 and Huay Bong 60 cassava planted in late rainy season, the experiments was conducted at Tapioca Research and Development Center (TRDC), Huay Bong Sub District, Dankhuntoad District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The experimental design was a split-plot in RCB with 4 replications. The cassava cultivars, Rayong 72 and Huay Bong 60 were the main plots. The planting date was October 24, 2003. The 14 sub-plots were: T1=non of G, CM and F (control), T2=50 kg F/rai, T3=1 ton CM/rai, T4=250 kg G/rai T5=1 ton CM/rai+25 kg F/rai, T6=1 ton CM/rai 250 kg G/rai , T7-T10 each received 50 kg F/rai but obtained different G rates (100, 150, 200 and 250 kg/rai, respectively), T11-T14 each was given 0.5 ton CM/rai+25 kg F/rai but received different G rates (100, 150, 200 and 250 kg/rai, respectively). The results revealed that root starch content, stem and leaf fresh weight in two cassava cultivars were different significantly. Root starch content of Huay Bong 60 (6,747 kg/rai) was greater than Rayong 72 (5,892 kg/rai). The different rates of G, CM and F had significant effected on root yield which were 13-45 percent higher as compared with the control plots. The gypsum at the rate of 250 kg/rai+50 kg/rai F gave maximum root yield of 7,196 kg/rai as compared with the control plots where cassava root yield was the lowest (4,975 kg/rai). Root starch content of Huay Bong 60 was greater (27.2 percent) than Rayong 72 (23.7 pecent). Similar result was also observed for stem+leaf fresh weight where Huay Bong 60 was greater (3,815 kg/rai) than Rayong 72 (2,085kg/rai).
