Application of electrolysis water treatment technique for Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), closed hatchery system was taken with two experiments. The first experiment was to study the optimal electric current and water flow rate for water treatment and the second was to compare the nursing systems between the open system using chlorine powder and the closed hatchery system by electrolysis system and sand filtration for water treatment in three consecutive crops. The results of the first experiment showed that the optimal flow rate of water was 2.5 l/min, with an applied amperage of 1.6 A could produce 11.39 mg/l of chlorine which was suitable for water treatment and could be applied in the Litopenaeus vannamei closed hatchery system. In the second experiment, water quality parameters, number of bacteria, survival rates and growth rates of these two nursing systems were not significantly different (P GT 0.05). However, average final weight gain of the larvae in the third crop of the open system using chlorine powder was statistically greater than (0.0097+-0.0031 g) that of the closed hatchery system with electrolysis system of (0.0040+-0.0015 g) (P LT 0.05). Nevertheless, the closed hatchery system with the electrolysis system could reduce more than 95 percent of the number of Vibrio spp. and total bacteria in the water, and cost of electrolysis systems were also lower than using chlorine powder for water disinfection.
