In vitro Kluai Hin plantlets were induced by 0 ,10 ,20 ,30 ,40 and 50 micro M oryzalin containing DMSO 2 percent for 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 hours. It was found that the higher dose of oryzalin with longer duration decreased growth rate and pseudostem height. The survival rates were 100, 83, 96, 95, 91 and 66 percent respectively. The pseudostem height were between 1.44-3.82 cm. The treated plantlets with 48 micro M oryzalin at 7.5 hours gave 50 survival percentage. In M1V1, the treated plantlets initiated 0.2-4.6 shoots which were higher than those in the control. While those of M1V2 to M1V4 were not significantly different from each other. Some of treated plantlets were revealed to be short pseudostem, chimera and thick leaves. MS medium without plant growth regulator was observed to be the best rooting of all treatments. After the plantlets were transfered to the greenhouse : the height, circumference and number of leaf of treated plants were revealed to be significantly different from the control. Leaf stomata of control were 31.46-45.86 micro m and stomata of treated plants were 51.91-68.99 micro m. The stomata cells of all mutants appeared larger and lower in number per area. The leaves of abnormal plants were shown thicker than the control.
