The establishment of specialised cooperatives specialising in pig production has been helping farmers to increase their productivity and economic efficiency. A specific objective of these cooperatives is to improve their members' income. However, the expansion of these cooperatives' activities is facing several difficulties that obstruct their development. The main reason is originated from the limited capacity of the farmers in self organisation, management and operation. This makes their activities not well planned so they cannot fully meet the demands of their members, particularly in increasing competitiveness in the market. Recently, these cooperatives have strengthened their capacity in collective operation and management, solving financial problems, completing technical process, expanding relations with partners and increasing competitiveness in the market. The research results have proved that a specialised cooperative is a collective economic organisation form that can help farmers with small production scale to increase production capacity, participate in market effectively and improve households' income
