2006
Tran Khac Thi
The study belonging to the National Scientific and Technological Program Application of advanced technologies in production of exported and major products (KC06) was carried out for 3 years (2001 - 2004). The studied crops include tomato, cucumber, legumes (French bean and pea), vegetable corns (baby corn, sweet corn); flowers (chrysanthemum and gladiolus. With 3 main studied activities including economics - marketing, agronomy and post harvest technology, the study used common methods of statistics, field experiments arid processing and storage technologies. The studied results have clarified the comparative advantages of Vietnam's vegetable, flower products in international markets as well as the solutions to strengthen export development of these commodities. In agronomic solutions, the study has identified the set of varieties that are suitable for export and processing including 28 vegetable and flower varieties with enclosed respective cultural practices. Demonstration trials have confirmed the effectiveness of these solutions. Yield increased by 13 - 52 percent, quality met requirements for export or industrial processing. The study has recommended 4 storage procedures for tomato, French bean, gladiolus, and 9 vegetable processing. The Scientific Committee of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development approved and allowed application of 4 storage and 5 processing procedures to production
