The results of research have shown that the seed germination of the canola plant (cultivar okapi) is strongly affected by a concentration of 40 ppm of Cd(II) and by 50 ppm of Cu(II) and Pb(II). However, canola was able to germinate and grow efficiently at any Zn(II) concentration evaluated in this study. These data imply that the canola plant may be grown directly in soils individually contaminated with moderate amounts of Cd(II), Cu(II), and Pb(II).
