Root yields and chlorophyll concentrations in six fodder beet cultivars (Lenka, Hako, Jamon, Monro, Starmon, Kostelecka Barres, Bucansky zluty valec) and one sugar beet cultivar (Merak) were evaluated in experiments conducted during the years 2006 and 2007. Seven different technologies were tested on the cv. Monro. Chlorophyll conc. were determined using the mobile chlorophyll meter SPAD-502. Chlorophyll conc. were influenced mainly by the year and cultivar. They were higher in 2007 than in 2006 and corresponded with high root yields. Chlorophyll levels were higher in sugar than in fodder beets. Concerning fodder beet cultivars, the cv. Lenka had the highest chlorophyll conc., whereas the cultivars Hako and Monro had the lowest ones.
