The objective of the present study was to evaluate the usefulness of body condition score (BCE), backfat thickness (BFT) and morphometric measures from Danbreed sows at different phases of gestation to establish body weigh predictive equations. A total of 208 measurements were performed on 127 sows at different gestation phases (day 0, 36 and 110). Sows were individually weighed and BFC, morphometric measurements (heart girth and flank to flank) and BCE were also measured. The multiple regression analysis was conducted taking into account the following groups of partition: primiparous (0 and 1 parity), multiparous (2 to 6 parities) and general (0 to 6 parities). According to the parameters evaluated, heart girth showed the best relationship with body weight of the sows in all groups (primiparous, multiparous and general) showing the highest values of R2 and lower residual value. The accuracy of the prediction is also improved including the measure of flank to flank in the model. It is concluded sow mofometric measures, better than BCS or BFT, may be used as tool to easily predict body weight in Danbreed sows during gestation.
