The effect of three planting dates (early, late and recommended) and three garlic cultivars Tseday (G-493),Bishoftu (W-014) and local) on epidemics of white rot (Sc;erptoi, ce[ovpri,) amd gar;oc uoe;d was stidoed/Foe;d ex[ero, emts were cpmdicted diromg 2003/2004 and 2004/2005 in randomized complete block design (RCBD) in three replications at Debre Zeit and Bakelo, Ethiopia. Garlic was planted at recommendedd planting time, two weeks befor, and two weeks after the recommened planting time. Disease incidence, severity, sclerotial density, initial stand , harvested bulbs and yield were measured, A decline in incidence, severeity, and yield with delayed cultivar reduced initial and final disease incidence, seberity, area under disease progress curves (AUDPC) and the disease progress rate at both locations.Yield and yield components for early planted cultivars were greater or comparable to those planted at the recommended planting date. The rate of disease progress was slower when the local cultivar was planted late, and could become a component in an integrated management strategy to reduce white rot of garlic.
