Selection on Local Garlic Population of Hamedan.

In order to selection of garlic superior clones of Hamedan 10 native clones were collected for Hamedan province including Toiserkan, Merianaj, Moein, Barfjin, Sheverin, Ali abad, Solan, Heidare, Bahar and Toein. In the first year, hard negative selection were did after planting and evaluation inside clones. Individual selection inside clones were based on bulb weight, clove weight, number of cloves in each bulb, bulb color and clove, bulb moisture, number of bulb layers, soft neck or hard neck and pyruvic acid. In the second year selection was repeated and in the third year selected clones evaluated in RCBD design. In Varamin, there was significant difference on pyruvic acid content, color and moisture of cloves, but in Hamedan, there was significant difference on bulb weight, bulb diameter, number of cloves in each bulb, pyruvic acid content and bulb color. Comparison of yield introduced superior clones that were Barfjin (12.6 t/ha), Heidare(12.4 t/ha) and Ali Abad (12.1 t/ha). Clones with the most content of pyruvat and the lowest color changes are suitable for introduction, therefore AliAbad, Barfjin , moein, Bahar and Heidare had the most content of pyruvat and the lowest color changes.
