Achievements of Agricultural Linkages Program: Completed projects (2000-2006)

Agricultural Linkages Program (ALP) was created under the Agricultural Research Endowment Fund (AREF) during March 1999. AREF was result of agreement between United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, Islamabad, Pakistan. ALP program started its first batch of projects in December 2000 by approving 96 projects in various disciplines. Since inception AREF-ALP played a significant role to invigorate R&D by providing timely and adequate financial, physical and technical support to the individuals and institutes engaged in agricultural research. To date 251 ALP projects have been approved with a total cost of Rs. 744 million in two batches and the processing of third batch is at final stage of approval. Of these approved projects, 164 projects are operating at different stages, 87 of these projects have completed their life span successfully. Significant and diverse achievements have been attaine d under the completed projects and the research findings are manifold. This document depicts the succinct achievements of the ALP projects. The details may be seen from the respective projects' research reports. The highlights of this document are presented in the form of salient achievements along with total cost and financial utilization status of each project under their respective disciplines of Crop Sciences, Natural Resources, Animal Sciences and Social Sciences.
