Results of breeding value evaluation of Polish Red and Simmental bulls [Pt. 2]

In the 2009/2 evaluation the multi-trait Blup Animal Model was used for evaluation of the breeding values of sires and cows. In the Red Polish breed, 264 sired and 3018 cows were evaluated, 44 percent sires had 10 or more daughter. The cows calved in 520 herds and 1848 herd-year-season subclasses (HYS). The number of HYS subclasses decreased in the both second and third lactation. In the 2009/2 evaluation 1196 Simmental sires and 9766 cows were evaluated by the multi-trait Blup Animal Model, 227 sires had 10 or more daughter. The cows calved in 1324 herds and 3899 HYS subclasses. The number of HYS subclasses decreased in the second lactation by 27 percent and the third lactation by 46 percent
