Plasmid profiles diversity and symbiotic efficiency of Rhizobium leguminosarum strains isolated from legumes grown on arable soils of Lublin region, Poland

Isolates of Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. trifolii and bv. viciae from root nodules of clover, vetch, pea and field pea were collected and characterized. Vetch was cultivated on sandy soil, pea and field pea on loessal soil and on rendzina, and red clover was planted on all three types of soil. The genetic diversity of isolates was estimated on the basis of plasmid profiles, and efficiency of symbiotic nitrogen fixation was measured in pot experiments under laboratory conditions
