The field research was carried out in the years 2000-03 in the Experimental Farm Bezek located near Chelm (Poland), property of the Agricultural University in Lublin. The purpose of this work was to determine the influence of organic and mineral + organic fertilization in comparison with control object fertilization upon the weed infestation on light and heavy soil. The number of dicotyledonous weeds and dry matter of weeds before closing rows and before tubers harvest was higher on the heavy soil in comparison with the light soil. The highest number of monocotyledonous weeds was on the light soil especially before tubers harvest. On the rendzina soil prevalent weeds were: Amaranthus retroflexus, Sonchus arvense and Eqisetum arvense, and on the light soil prevalent weed was Echinochloa crus-galli. The Galium aparine on the rendzina soil, and the Matricaria maritima subsp. inodora on the light soil were also numerously before tubers harvest
