Applying the modified California forced moulting programme, gain of production after moult and immunocompetence in different stages of moult were investigated in breeder hens at 55 weeks of age. Three experimental groups with 2750 hens were moulted by the same moulting programme and vaccinated against Infectious bronchitis (IB), Infectious bursal disease (IBD) and Newcastle disease (ND) applying different vaccination schemes. In our research we investigated the influence of forced moult and stress caused by starvation and immaciation on measurable and uniform immune response to vaccination. The level of total serum proteins, protein fractions and immunoglobulin classes A, G and M was determined before vaccination in all experimental groups. Humoral immunocompetence was determined through control of antibody titre in hens (at day 14 after vaccination and at week 10 and 15 after vaccination), antibody persistance, transmissibility of antibodies from hens to their offspring 15 weeks after vaccination and uniformity of maternal antibodies in offspring against mentioned viral diseases.
