A several-year study was conducted to examine the flora and vegetation of Pancevacki Rit, an alluvial plain bordered by the rivers Dunabe, Tamis and Karas. Distribution, phytocenological and differentiation, floristic composition, structure and anthropogenic influences were investigated. A great variety of floristic elements classified as belonging to 7 main floristic regions and 16 phytogeographic floristic groups was found in our geographic analysis of the overall ruderal flora (375 taxa) of Pancevacki Rit. The most wide spread Holarctic regional type of plants (50.7%) includes species whose region of distribution goes across the northern hemisphere, while Cosmopolitan species account for 16.5% and Mediterranean-Continental with 14.6% of all identified plant species.
