Content of microelements and heavy metals in soils of Krupanj municipal [Serbia]

Our study shows data about main parameters of soil fertility and content of some microelements and heavy metals (Zn, Mn, Fe, Cd, Ni, Cr, and Pb) in soils of Krupanj municipal (Serbia), total 281 soil samples. Diverse natural conditions, vegetation cover, heterogeneity of geological substrate, different types of soils, along with human activities greatly influenced soils fertility, microelements and heavy metals contents in studied area. Most of the soils belong to moderately and weakly acid soils (47%). More than 76% of soils are poorly supplied with available phosphorus, while 38% of soil samples have potassium content bellow 15 mg/100 g. Most of the soils are well supplied with humus. Content of available Ca varies widely, with low Ca content in 4.6% of soil samples. Microelements supplies in soils are well, although 37% of soils have low available Zn content, and 12% of samples have low available Cu content. Only 3 samples have low content of available Mn. Supplies of available Fe in soil are good, but 82.6% of samples have very high Fe content. Heavy metals content in most of studied soils does not exceed maximum allowed concentration. Only lead in 2, and nickel in 5 samples exceed MAC. These results should serve as good foundation for identifying optimal way for remediation and increasing production capacity of soils, with reduction of degradation process of soils.
