The objective of this paper was to provide the answer to two essential questions: 1) whether the estrus in the gilts was not detected due to their not reaching the pubertal ovarian activity before the age of over 8 months or whether it was the consequence of the inadequate estrus detection technology and 2) whether it is possible to achieve the satisfactory level of estrus reaction and fertility in these gilts by the application of modern biotechnological methods? The obtained results clearly show that the inadequate estrus detection technology is the primary reason for the failure of the external estrus signs manifestation. By the application of the modern hormone treatment methods and the adequate estrus detection technology, it is possible to increase the level of estrus reaction and fertility parameters in the gilts with the delayed pre-insemination anoestrus.
