The pieces of research of the effect of grafting and hybrids on sensory characteristics that have been done so far differ significantly and are often completely contradictory. The objective of this research was to determine the effect of grafting on the sensory characteristics under our production conditions. The results of the research indicate that the highest sugar contents were recorded in the fruits grafted on hybrid stock Emphasis F1 during 2008. In two out of three polls, the intervieweers preferred non-grafted fruits of Celebration hybrid to both grafted. In each of the three polls it was confirmed that non-grafted fruits usually have better characteritics than fruit grafted on domestic Lagenaria vulgaris Ser.
