In the production of maize fertilization has a dominant role in the formation of yield. Maize belongs to a group of cultivated plants with the highest production of organic matter per unit area, and hence for the formation of high yields necessary to provide the proper amount of nutrients. Knowledge of requirements of plants, the dynamics of the nutrition uptake during the growing season and their role in the formation of certain plant organs is a key factor in determining the time and manner of application of fertilizers. Quantities of the main elements of nutrition (NPK) are determined based on the natural soil fertility (first crop and prior entry of organic and mineral nutrients) the coefficient of utilization of these assimilative from the soil by plants, as well as the planned total yield of corn. The ratio of NPK fertilizers vary in very wide limits and depend on the amount of used mineral nutrients and their concentration in the soil.
