Results of an investigation of quality and efficiency of utilization of domestic milk replacer compared with cow milk and imported milk replaces. The quality of milk replacer Ekolak T was in several parameters (chemical composition, dilution rate, amount of residue, smell, taste, intake rate and others) on the same level with the imported milk replacer. Daily gain of calves fed with Ekolak T was higher by 47 g or 9.81% and the gain (above 500 g) was adequate for the Holstein calves. All calves were in good health. With this milk replacer the amount of 247 L of milk was saved and feeding expenses were reduced by 28.12%. With the use of modern equipment and quality ingredients, taking care on the nutritive needs of animals, the high quality milk replacer can be produced in our country. Such a replacer can produce equal or better results than what is achieved with imported milk replacers. With that feeding program substantial amounts of milk are saved and feeding expenses are substantially reduced compared to the conventional program.
