Interaction os selenium-containing preparations and heavy metals in the organism of poultry

The content of lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) in organs and tissues of broilers with chronic intoxication with simultaneous application of selenium-containing compounds of organic and inorganic nature – a preparation of Selenavel and sodium selenite, respectively, was studied in the Oktyabrskaya poultry farm in the Novosobirsk region. The best detoxicant was chosen to obtain ecologically safe poultry products. As is shown, when arriving in the organism in combination, Pb and Cd in an amount of 1.5 MAL per 1 kg are accumulated in organs and tissues multiply exceeding the background value. Pb is mainly accumulated in tissues, feathers, livers, flesh; Cd – in kidneys, livers, hearts, feathers, and flesh. The negative influence of Cd and Pb was found to be on biochemical and morphological blood values expressed in reducing the content of serum protein by 30% by diminishing albumins by 52%, globulins – by 13%, glucose – by 17%, calcium – by 69%, and phosphorus – by 19%. The content of urea in blood increased by 120%, the activity of enzymes ACT and ALT by 50 and 71%, respectively, alkaline phosphatase by 57%. Erythrocytes, leucocytes and hemoglobin reduced by 14, 39 and 11%, respectively. Adding selenium supplements SV and SN to the basic ration promoted reducing the contents of Pb and Cd in poultry organs and tissues, but the effect of applying SN was higher. The reduction of Pb in different organs was from 44.2 to 74.3% (SV – by 26.7-62.2%), CD – by 20.2-60.8% (SV – by 29.6-54.3%) corresponding to the ecological standards for these products. SN was also effective in normalizing morphological and biochemical blood values. SN applied in an amount of 1.0 MAL of selenium per 1 kg of feed has a positive influence on productive indices of poultry: avebest detoxicant to produce ecologically safe poultry meat
