The purpose of the work is to study the effect of soil contamination with increasing doses of zinc on productivity of annual feed crops and its transfer to plant products to determine standard contamination levels in podzolic soils. A small plot trial comprised applying contrast doses of zinc, a micro field trial – increasing ones. A mixture of peas and oats additionally seeded with clover was grown. It was found, that the influence of zinc on the plants depended on its content in soil and species specificity of plants. The contamination with zinc influenced on the accumulation of crude protein in plant biomass. With increasing time since the moment of contamination the toxicity of the element exhibited less. As a whole, increasing zinc in soil to the optimum level promoted steady accumulating biomass of feed crops and improving their microelement composition. It was found that the behavior of zinc in an artificially contaminated soil-plant system had a regional character and depended on the crop, element concentration and after-effect duration. A significant increase in the in the mobility of element was detected in contaminated soils. Critical levels were specified for the contamination of podzolic soils with zinc. An integrated approach was proposed to regulate soil contamination with reference of plant tolerance and zinc translocation in plants.
