The effect of a humic fertilizer based on brown coals from the Irkutsk-Cheremkhovsky basin on the agro-chemical properties of gray forest soil and the yield of meadow fescue (Festuca pratensis Huds.) was studied in microfield experiments. The application of the humic fertilizer at rates of 10, 20, and 40 g/sq. m compared to the control increased the yield of raw phytomass by 22 and 20%, and at the end of vegetation - by18-20%, respectively, and favored the accumulation of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, as well as a significant increase in the content of available nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium in the soil was observed; however, it had no effect on humus content, pH, and cation exchange capacity. It was concluded that enhancing the growth of meadow fescue took place both as a result of the influence of humic fertilizer on the activity of physiological processes in plants, and as a consequence of improving soil nutrition.
