The Bulgarian Executive Agency for Variety Testing, Field Inspection and Seed Control approved in 2009 a new common winter wheat cultivar Fermer. It was developed by using physical mutagenesis. The seeds from cultivar Pobeda were irradiated with gamma-rays Со60 at dose 50 Gy. The new cultivar possess rich complex of biologic and economic traits. It retains positively qualities of the initial variety Pobeda the excellent grain quality and high frost resistance, but it was characterized also with higher productivity, improved resistance to lodging, to powdery mildew and leaf rust brown rust. Because of its high ecological plasticity it was recommended for cultivation in all Bulgarian area.
