This study has a purpose to investigate the content of the macronutrients N, P, K and the accumulation of the heavy metals Mn, Pb and Zn in soils and fractions of wheat and barley crops in Devnya industrial region. Some of the sampled fields are located near the industrial area and others at a significant distance. The results show low levels of the macronutrients and high levels of the heavy metals in the soils located near the industrial region, which exhibited a negative influence of the industrial activities on the soil status. Besides that the heavy metals in the investigated soils were under the threshold limits. The heavy metals concentrations in the wheat fractions were higher that barleys fractions which shows that the wheat crops were more susceptible to accumulation of heavy metals. Highest accumulation of heavy metals in the grain fraction and lowest in the roots in both agricultural crops were established. Regarding the industrial area the concentrations of lead in the barley grain fraction were 7.050 mg/kg and in the wheat grain – 9.447 mg/kg. The concentrations of lead in the fractions of both crops were under the limits for concentrates and green fodder and much above the limits for food products.
